Temptation

The season of lent is one that we associate with giving things up. It is inspired by the 40 days and 40 nights that Jesus spent in the desert fasting. This is often described as the temptation of Jesus.

The temptations that Jesus faced were not around eating chocolate or trying to give up alcohol for lent, but about the whole nature and purpose of his life and ministry. Tempted to seek fame and fortune or take the seat of power, he chose instead the way of the cross.

We spent time together thinking about the meaning of the cross. This song by Keith and Kristyn Getty speaks of how our worth is defined by what Jesus did for us on the cross. Another song that we spent time listening to was the classic hymn When I survey the wondrous cross We also spent time thinking about what the cross means to each of us click here to find out more
